First a few things about me. I am an animal lover, been married 2 years but with my partner for 8. We got married in the forest and I spend as much time in one as I can. I am the practical one, always problem solving and thinking ahead and sometimes get lost in the details. I have 2 dogs that I adore and love TV. I believe everyone has a story and I am always willing to listen.
In my career I have been a family and individual counsellor for over 10 years. Working with youth in the child welfare system and now working with youth who are homeless or at risk of homelessness and their families. It’s rewarding and very challenging work. One day, I was making my way through Facebook looking for some interesting information and I stumbled upon a story about Placenta Encapsulation. (What the &*S@ is that? You ask…check out our website for more deets) I was fascinated! This led me to the woman who is now my trainer and mentors page and the rest is history, as they say. I realized after some research I found my calling.
Becoming a Doula has transformed my life in so many ways. Supporting a family bringing a child into this world, watching a momma use her intuition and power to push the baby out is a powerful thing. However this journey also came along at a time in my life when my husband and I were struggling with issues related to infertility. There have been some ups and downs in facing my personal struggle as others celebrate their new little’s. If it has done anything it has made me more passionate about helping women and families.
As fate and Henna would have it Kyla and I met and Sisterhood Wellness was born. Here I combine my two passions, birth and counselling. Here I am able to work with women struggling to conceive like me and held others bring their child into the world. I also am able to use my skills to help couples work their way through the transition to parenthood, to deal with loss, or just to talk. Our philosophy at Sisterhood is supporting women and their families before and beyond birth. I have found my home.
